Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

  • Electrical Value: $19,000,000.00

This new 300,000 square foot addition to the main wing of the Bayview campus will be home to the Perinatal and Gynaecology program. This includes 24 new beds for labour and delivery, 21 beds for high risk obstetrics, multiple clinic, breastfeeding clinic and 48 additional beds for the neonatal intensive care unit.

Guild Electric provided value engineering exercises and participated in round table discussions with the Owner, Infrastructure Ontario, consultants, general contractor and suppliers to help with savings that would assist with the budget constraints.

Guild had several challenges on this project including Budget, Schedule, Logistics and the on-going hospital operation. Budget issues were worked out through round table discussions. With co-ordination and co-operation with other trades and consultants, we have been able to mitigate some of the scheduling issues. Because of our long history of health care projects and through the due diligence of our staff, we understand the routines of the hospital and the requirements of minimal disruption and disturbance. Because of the logistical challenges on this project, we use a just-in-time delivery cycle to ensure materials are on-site when we need them as we need them.
