Project Overview
Viva is York Region’s bus rapid transit system, a specially designed bus service that uses bus-only lanes and roads to ensure the fastest possible travel times for passengers. The vivaNext plan covered the development of new bus rapidways, with Phase 2 focusing on a route along Highway 7. This multifaceted infrastructure initiative was awarded to and managed by the Ellis Don/Coco Paving joint venture (EDCO).
Project Highlights
Guild was the only electrical subcontractor involved in the project, which encompassed almost 56 kilometres of transit infrastructure. Our scope covered the supply and installation of all lighting, power, and distribution; fibre networks and communications; UPS units; security and camera systems; transit signal priority systems; and Centracs system integration.
